Disability Services Sunshine Coast

Disability services sunshine coast provides assistance for participants to live as independently as possible while building their skills. It is funded by the NDIS and is a lifetime support service.

Spinal Life Australia and Cerge have successfully applied for Queensland government funding to launch the Access Accelerator program. This will equip tourism operators with the knowledge, tools and confidence to create accessible tourist destinations.

Supported Independent Living (SIL)

There are a lot of different support options available to people with disability and finding the right one can be daunting. At Windgap, we offer SIL services for participants with SIL funding in their NDIS plan. SIL is a type of support that nurtures personal growth in a home environment and cultivates a sense of belonging in the community. It is most commonly used in shared homes and includes support staff but does not cover costs like rent, food or activities outside the house.

Like all NDIS supports, SIL is designed to maximise independence and empower people to pursue their goals and interests. The level of support is personalised to each participant and scaled back as they grow in independence, ensuring that the individual has the autonomy they want and deserve. Unlike short term accommodation (STA), SIL is not funded through the core supports budget and must be funded through an individual’s dedicated SIL budget.

Specialised Transport

NDIS participants can access specialised transport services to assist them with their day-to-day activities. This can include assisting with school transport, shopping trips, and a range of other community activities. These services are designed to improve social inclusion and foster independence by reducing dependence on others.

Christopher enjoys his weekly outings with ndis Sunshine Coast Disability Services. The team always puts his well-being and emotional stability at the forefront which is comforting for the family. They also communicate with him around the clock and provide updates on his adventures each week.

Council Link services are available across the region and cost $2 per person for a one-way trip. Most buses on the Sunshine Coast allow easy access for people with disabilities and their carers. To see a list of accessible bus routes visit the Council Link website. Trains are also fully wheelchair-accessible on the Translink network. Simply wait at the assisted boarding point near the guard’s cabin when disembarking.

High Intensity Care

The team at Sapphire Support, a leading Sunshine Coast disability service provider, empowers their clients by placing their well-being both physically and mentally at the forefront of their care. They are a fully-registered NDIS service provider who provides a variety of personalised Disability Services Sunshine Coast.

High intensity supports are critical for people with complex needs and can involve a range of tasks such as home maintenance and repairs, cleaning, cooking, shopping and transport, stoma care and catheter management. These services are often provided on a one-to-one basis, or as directed in the participant’s NDIS plan.

If a person has a stoma, trained disability care workers help them to feed through the tube, monitor their skin condition and stoma care, follow a wound care plan, replace and clean dressings, check for signs of infection and respond to blockages or dislodged catheters. They also assist with other specialised activities such as medication management and behaviour support.

Wound Care

Our wound care team is a highly specialised service that offers specialised treatment and support for those with chronic wounds. They follow a comprehensive wound management plan that is tailored to each individual’s needs. Their services include wound dressings, assisting with hoist and sling transfers, swab assessments and more. They also work closely with GP practices and Skin Clinics to provide wound consultation and education to clients.

They are passionate about their work and have demonstrated this through presenting at academic and practice-focused conferences and publishing in peer reviewed journals. They are committed to providing evidence-based client care and promoting best practice in the health industry.

Sunshine Coast Disability Services supports Christopher’s holistic care putting his well-being at the forefront which is comforting to us as his family. Their upbeat energy lifts his spirits and he looks forward to his outings with them each week.

Their open communication and feedback to the family is excellent.
